Steampunk Tourist is looking for non-fiction articles on less-explored aspects of the Steampunk genre from diverse perspectives.
Suggested topics might include ways to enjoy Steampunk from outside of the Steampunk culture (if, say, you’re a geek who hasn’t done Steampunk) – to things that are problematic in Steampunk, to thoughts on our origins in places like Renaissance Faires or other subcultures and genres. But those are just suggestions – we challenge you to cogitate and share your scholarship, thoughts, and imaginative ideas about Steampunk, whatever they may be.
Article length should be approximately 500-3000 words. Articles may be written for a general or more scholarly audience. Article content should limit “adult” language and content, unless vital to the topic at hand (we anticipate a “PG-13” audience for Steampunk Tourist). Gender neutral language is preferred when possible, but not required.
Steampunk Tourist prefers that you submit previously unpublished material. If the submission has been published elsewhere, please specify where and when in your cover email. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable.
Article submission does not guarantee acceptance and publication.
Published articles will be compensated at $.02/word. Steampunk Tourist pays via PayPal upon publication on the website.
